(Communicate Nothing)

[17 Oct 2006|09:59pm]
Is anyone going to Little Rock November 3rd or 4th?  I'd very much like to hitch a ride.

If I could have any super power, I would choose ambidexterity because then I could pluck my left eyebrow with ease.

I love the feeling you get when you try on a pair of jeans and you instantly know that these are your jeans.

Of course, this feeling is not diminished by the fact that said jeans cost $13.

Last night I dreamt that I captured a rapist... who happened to be Nathaniel Hawthorne.

What the hell.

I am currently experiencing an inexplicable urge for nutella.

I knew that would come back to haunt me one day.  You are what you eat, as the old adage goes.

Rivendell looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting.

[ mood | not pretty ]

I just got my hair cut... way too short.  I will not be attracting the mensfolk anytime soon.

When I am in college, I will always have cranapple juice and fig newtons in my dorm.  What will you have?

For there is such a little time that your youth will last-- such a little time.  The common hill-flowers wither, but they blossom again.  The laburnum will be as yellow next June as it is now .  In a month there will be purple stars on the clematis, and year after year the green night of its leaves will hold its purple stars.  Bur we never get back our youth.  The pulse of joy that beats  in us at twenty, become sluggish.  Our limbs fail, our senses rot.  We degenerate into hideous puppets, haunted by the memory of the passions of which we were too much afraid, and the exquisite temptations that we had no the courage to yield to.  Youth!  Youth!  There is absolutely nothing in the world but youth!

My summer is a perpetual Family Game Night.

Homemade blackberry jam and grilled squash from the farmer's market and fresh strawberries and sweet corn right out of the shuck and my grandma's still warm peach cobbler are the reasons I love Arkansas in the summertime.

What are yours?

Not that anyone cares what I think, but the restaurant is on the other side of the universe. [24 Jun 2006|10:58pm]
I bought this today:

and I have never felt so complete. But I do need someone to watch it with me. It's six hours you won't regret, I promise.

I had a dream last night that I married a certain A. Rickman.

Jogging is an excruciating pastime.

I want to be in college.

(Every time I come back, home seems more provincial)

I hope tomorrow is like today [24 May 2006|10:03pm]
[ mood | satisfied ]

Today was quite possibly my ideal day-- very close to it, at the very least.

-Woke up at the break of dawn to go for a jog with a couple of my favorite people
-Saw some wildlife, including (but not limited to) a drowning duck, the bluebird of happiness, Terry the Turtle, and Carl the Crazy Crustacean
-Made a much needed stop at Lorenzen's, where I bought a couple of books I've been wanting
-Visited some of my favorite MSM faculty and staff (namely, SuPhil, Lawrence Avon, and Bettye Esh)
-Ate at a deliciously European boulangerie
-Spent the afternoon curled up with Atonement
-Ate the remaining Pirates of the Caribbean M&M's
-Ate POT ROAST for dinner!
-And to top it off, I saw a play at Murray's with Katy and friends.
...ok, that last one was kind of awkward.  But I do love theater.  I mean theatre.

So if it just wasn't for the "clean-up-the-dregs-of-last-night's-party" part (bwah! physical labor!), 5/24/06 would have been nearly perfect

And now I'm home at 10:15.  That's how I like it.  Really.

'Night, loves.

They're making Atonement into a movie AND Keira Knightly is in it AND Joe Wright is producing it.

I am thrilled.

That's why we wander and follow la vie dansante [11 May 2006|05:11pm]
[ mood | numb ]

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I’ve been
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again
If it suddenly ended tomorrow
I could somehow adjust to the fall

Good times and riches and son of a bitches
I’ve seen more than I can recall

These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same

Through all of the islands and all of the highlands
If we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane

I think about paris when I’m high on red wine
I wish I could jump on a plane
So many nights I just dream of the ocean
God I wish I was sailin’ again
Oh, yesterday’s over my shoulder
So I can’t look back for too long
There’s just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just can’t go wrong

With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldn’t laugh I just would go insane
If we couldn’t laugh we just would go insane
If we weren’t all crazy we would go insane

I can't believe it's over.  It's been a good run, girls.
